Jeff Kleinman
I first met Jeff Kleinman at a Creative Writing Conference in Baltimore last summer. He not only has all the streetwise wit that one would expect from a top East Coast literary agent, but he also understands the structural issues facing the publishing industry. My conversation with Kleinman is a great introduction to the (digital) future of the book business, both from the perspective of a publisher and from that of an aspiring writer.
Listen to Keen and Kleinman

I visited your site for query information and almost did not listen to this pod cast. I am so glad I did. As an aspiring author, insight into the mechanics of how to get a novel represented and then published is difficult to find. I wish more literary agents took the time to give back. I enjoyed the piece immensely.

I listened to your podcast and yes, I found it informative, but I also felt a sense of frustration expressed that exists on both sides of the cover and title page: Agent/author/publisher. Having written 160,000 words and then finding the chance of somebody reading them is hanging by a thread as tenuous as an e-mail is daunting.
How all of this can change in the future is anybody's guess, but I suspect the smal presses of America will somehow be involved.

Dear Madams and Sirs,
Recently I have written a book in french (3 volumes, 1200 pages) on religion and mythology, entitled Le Roman Sabéen (ISBN 9782748034073, 9782748034080 and 9782748034097) (see internet site http://www.astromythologie.com
or
http://www.astromythology.net).
This book having been translated by me in english, I look now for a publisher of english language specialized in religion and/or theosophy (or religion and mythology, or religion and astronomy, or religion and esoteric).
If you and your company are interested in this work, I may transmit you some PDF files related to it, so that you may check the pertinence of my job, and if you agree with it, to publish it.
Waiting for your answer, I remain
Claude Gétaz
